Better buildings, stronger returns
At EG, we believe better buildings drive stronger returns. By improving our assets’ environmental and commercial performance, we create better experiences for occupants and stronger outcomes for investors.
Our Sustainability Targets
100% renewable energy
Sourced through long-term agreements with renewable generators and on-site solar
Absolute zero emissions
On Scope 1, Scope 2 and Operational Scope 3 emissions across our entire portfolio
Our Approach
We concentrate our efforts on two priorities, underpinned by seven foundations where we maintain standards and manage risk. Our priorities are delivered through platform-wide asset activities, which are detailed below.
Occupant Connection
Better buildings come from better engagement with the people who use them. Through tenant engagement, our flagship “Good Work” program, and sustainability led design standards, we create buildings that work for the people inside them.
Through an annual survey delivered in partnership with the Little BIG Foundation, we seek to identify opportunities to improve occupant experience. We work directly with tenants on shared sustainability goals, including co-funded initiatives, lease arrangements, and improved reporting.
EG founded the Little BIG Foundation to address workplace loneliness through the Good Work program, building connection and community across our office assets.
Every fit out and development is an opportunity to deliver lasting sustainability outcomes. We developed portfolio-wide guidelines to embed sustainability into fit outs and developments from concept to handover.
Climate Action
We’re reducing emissions asset by asset through energy efficiency and renewable procurement, with a clear path to zero emissions by 2040 while integrating physical climate risk into every acquisition and assessing resilience across our existing portfolio.
We assess physical climate risk across our portfolio and during due diligence for new acquisitions, informing investment decisions and protecting long-term asset value. Where material risks are identified, we undertake deeper vulnerability assessments and targeted upgrades based on severity and commercial impact.
We target the most material emissions across our portfolio through asset optimisation, on-site renewables, renewable energy procurement and tenant engagement aimed at driving reductions in our buildings’ emissions.
Sustainability Reporting & Disclosures
EG participates in GRESB annually, the international sustainability benchmark used by institutional investors, and our buildings are rated under NABERS, Australia’s national framework for measuring the environmental performance of commercial buildings.
We also publish an annual sustainability report covering progress against the targets and programs above.
