The Bosco Apartments is an iconic site in the tranquil suburb of Five Dock, adopting a contemporary approach to the Mediterranean style that is a distinctive characteristic of Five Dock architecture.

To ensure Bosco felt like a home for the Five Dock community, we sought to respect the established tree canopy and adjacent parkland. The buildings are in scale and designed to be harmonious with the green canopy.

We set out to create a property development with lasting positive impact for the residents, enhancing the ground plane through comprehensive soil remediation for resident peace of mind. The Tobruk War Memorial that is a focal point on ANZAC Day was restored and preserved prior to the dedication of the land to council.

Visioned by Candalepas Associates and designed by Bates Smart, Bosco Apartments honour the local established architecture in its use of terracotta and chocolate Roman brick. Delivered in partnership with Forte as their first residential development project in Australia.

Located on the corner of two main roads, several walkways provide a seamless connection through green corridors to Storey Park and water frontage. The Bosco project is dedicated to conserving surrounding aesthetics and maximising public spaces in which residents can enjoy the community.  A strong relationship was built with local stakeholders throughout the execution of our project vision and the site is considered a landmark by the Canada Bay Council.

2019 UDIA Best Medium-Density Development: Above 75 Dwellings

  • Preserving the existing War Memorial within the site and holding ANZAC day services during construction brought the broader community into the Development.
  • Management of the height of the new buildings, particularly on Lyons Road so as not to overshadow the existing mature fig trees, a part of the street’s heritage.
