A North Sydney office in EG’s Australian Core Enhanced Fund (EG ACE) has been named the first building in New South Wales and second in Australia to achieve a 5-star NABERS Rating for waste management.
NABERS, the National Australian Built Environment Rating System, assesses buildings on waste generation, recycling and resource recovery and supply chain management. The asset, located at 32 Walker St, achieved the market-leading Rating while servicing 16 tenants across 15 floors.
“The 5-star NABERS Waste Rating achievement at 32 Walker Street sets an exciting example that will encourage others to follow,” said NABERS Acting Director, Leigh Burrell. “It is energising to see our NABERS customers driving improved environmental efficiencies in waste management to support a more sustainable built environment”.
Compelled by our philosophy to build in good beyond our basic fiduciary duties, EG has spent the past two years enhancing and growing our asset management track record with new hires including Divisional Director, Gemma Moulang, Senior Asset Manager, Roni Karika, and Asset Managers, Jason Severino and Kaimel Tayyar.
As a key function of our investment process, the Asset Management division have been working in close collaboration with EG’s Head of ESG, Ian Lieblich. Ian joined the team in 2021 with a wealth of experience in responsible investment and a vision to steer the next exciting chapter for EG.
“Reducing waste to landfill and investing in the circular economy is part of EG’s commitment to building in good for a more equitable future. The Rating is indicative of the extensive tenant engagement EG undertakes as part of our approach to asset management, partnering with all our stakeholders in our commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Ian.
32 Walker Street was acquired in 2021 under the EG ACE strategy, an open-ended, diversified fund targeting office, retail and industrial core real estate in Australia with over $800 million in assets under management.
